I made this site to aggregate and organize my writing on religion, particularly Islam. Various religions and traditions are covered, and this is meant to be descriptive of the subjects at hand rather than my particular opinions or beliefs.
Why “Scheherazade’s Niche”? Well, my first project here is “Female Islamic Saints” and Scheherazade is an iconic female character in literature as a teller of tales, and I wanted to mirror that in telling the tales of Female Islamic Saints. A miḥrāb is a niche in a wall of a mosque used for prayer, and in an English context, there is the study niche, so I wanted to invoke the religious and academic themes of my projects.
